London Last Time

I'm leaving for London a month from today so it seems like a good place to start the blog. I haven't really started packing; I'm still preparing for class via homework and school supplies. Oh, and my plants. I'm trying not to worry too much about the well-being of my tomato plant that will be living with my parents while I'm away.

But I can't talk about going to London for the second time without mentioning the first time. I'm looking forward this summer's trip immensely, partly because its longer. Three weeks definitely tops three days. Not to mention that the last time I was in London it was October or November and pretty chilly. Not freezing like it would've been here in the Midwest but definitely chilly. The last time I was London, I visited the city on one of my weekends while I was living in Spain, just outside of Madrid.

London was, quite literally, a nice change from Spain. In central Spain, its very dry and the leaves don't change. You have summer and then winter. It was hard to go through October and November without the changing of the leaves because where I grew up (IL) fall is all about the change. Going to London filled something I was missing terribly. It was chilly and wet and trees with red, orange and gold leaves -- basically wonderfully.

I also didn't get to see nearly as much as I would have wanted too. This time we get to go to Oxford, up into the London Eye, among other adventures. Don't get me wrong though, I had ton of fun. After all, seeing the Globe Theater, Westminster Abbey and the London Bridge from the outside, is still pretty exciting. I really want to see a play in the Globe Theater but I don't think that's going to happen. You can't have everything so I'll have to be content with my pictures. There are always the other fun and silly things that are equally literary related. How could I pass up a picture of Gracechruch Street, the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gardner who brought Lizzy and Mr. Darcy together? ^.^

Reminiscing is all part of the preparation and it's been fun to go back through my pictures and find the ones that are good, bad and hilarious. This was one of the more fun parts of preparation. But the best thing so far about this trip is that I'm purely excited. I'm looking forward to living in another city, to my school work, and to the adventures. Now, if I could just be sure my family won't kill my tomato plant....
